UCC-128
Vendor Compliance Services
Electronic business is
emerging as the key element in maximizing supply chain efficiency.
Since many retailers and manufacturers are requiring trading
partners to embrace EDI technology, the necessity for readable bar
code symbols has increased. Surprisingly, very few suppliers
actually understand their role in the supply chain process and the
importance of the shipping labels they provide.
The
Win-Win Scenario
Many
retailers and distributors are imposing stiff penalties for
noncompliance, because many of their suppliers do not understand
exactly what is being asked of them or do not have the ability to
meet the retailer requirements. Our UCC-128/POS Testing Program
works directly with suppliers and enables retailers to improve their
supply chain efficiency, at no cost to the retailers. Our program
involves having vendors submit test labels to allow them to demonstrate their ability
to comply with their retailer’s requirements. Vendors are charged
a modest fee for each label submission. This creates a win-win
scenario for both trading partners: a program that is cost-free to
retailers and enables vendors to meet compliance requirements.
Internet-Based
Communication and Training
The
BCG UCC-128/POS Testing Program has been successful because of our
extensive experience working with print quality issues and having a
proven track record of assisting non-compliant companies. Another
key feature of our program is the real-time communication we provide
to both retailers and vendors. Using the internet for both email
evaluations and customer support, we take advantage of today’s
technologies to offer quick and easy-to-understand information. Our
internet based Knowledge Center provides vendors with samples and
explanations for those areas in which they did not comply with
stated requirements.
The
Experience
Bar Code
Graphics, Inc. has been assisting companies with bar codes since the
inception of the U.P.C. symbol. Beginning in the 1970’s, we
provided pre-press bar codes (film masters) and pre-printed labels
to over 20,000 companies. During this period we became recognized as
bar code print quality experts. Beginning in the 1980’s and
throughout the 1990’s we have worked with many companies in
establishing their bar code guidelines as well as in maintaining bar
code symbol quality. Today, we have emerged as the leading service
bureau for both pre-press and pre-printed products. Furthermore, we
actively contribute to various industry associations (including GS1
US (formerly the
Uniform Code Council)) and we have established a comprehensive bar
code quality assurance program for some of the nations largest
retailers, publishers, and manufacturers.
